A Look Back - 270 Days and counting
What a ride, isn’t it? With this update number 25, I have safely passed the 21 article mark and catapulted Substack into the top 10%. Not in terms of the number of subscribers. But remember the statistic that 90% of blogs or podcasts never cross that 21 threshold?
My mission remains clear: to democratize and make stock investing as simple as choosing your favorite ice cream flavor. The key, much like that of an ice cream maker, lies in the recipe – in this case, my understanding of stocks and math distilled into computer code. As someone who loves to examine complex relations, there is a pleasing side effect - I have never been happier, because I can do what I love.
The Past - Investment and the Human Mind
This year’s focus has been twofold: simplifying the mathematics of investing and understanding the psychological aspects.
Tackling your brain is the real challenge.
If you are not aware of your emotions, you behave like a lost rocket. You’re certainly going to end up somewhere, but you never know how you got there. Let alone whether you can reproduce the results.
Here’s what we’ve covered:
The power of belief systems and our personal ‘truths’
Cognitive biases and their impact
The science/ body chemistry behind decision-making
But let’s not forget the math.
We’ve explored investment basics, diverse stock investment strategies, and the limits of manual stock analysis, contrasting it with professional tactics. I will expand on what the pros use. The pipeline is full of ideas waiting to be molded into code.
My Year in Numbers
Written 30,000+ lines of code and over 26,000 words.
Explored AI from the ground up.
Switched data providers for enhanced accuracy.
Refined my database structure about ten times for optimal data management.
Experimented with three core strategies (1) Joel Greenblatt’s Magic Formula, (2) a mix of a Momentum, Fundamentals, and Growth Strategy, and (3) a Fundamentals-Meets-Statistics hybrid.
Experimented with variations like re-entry points and stop-loss strategies.
Refined my algorithm with over 70,000 strategy iterations and gained new insights.
Experimented with article formats – turns out, you love real-life stories interwoven with insights. Your favorite article so far was this one.
Watched countless YouTube tutorials on coding and cloud computing.
Transferred code to the cloud.
Dedicated around 4,000 hours in the past 14 months to this project.
Launched the first version of the website
Connected with many awesome people here on Substack
And designed some cool baseball caps
A Glimpse into the Future
We’ve come a long way.
The algorithm is almost fully trained and showing promising results.
I made substantial progress on the website backend, including setting up an online store.
Why an online store? I love Substack as a platform and what it offers. However, some limits cannot be pushed.
Let’s look at an example. The content of my report will change every day because the market changes every day. This means that the report needs to be updated every day. Since this could be done manually, I prefer a smooth automatic update process because it’s safer and I want to use my time wisely. Unfortunately, Substack does not come with an API that offers such functions. So I had to find an alternative. The big advantage of having your website is that you can customize it to your needs. So I connected my backend to my website to ensure that a customer who buys the report always has the latest data. There will also be a clock where the customer can see when a new update is available. So they can decide for themselves when it makes sense for them to purchase. Plus. You can add a wide range of security features. The highlight this week – welcoming my first paid subscriber.
I'll cook up something special for paid subscribers and spill the beans in a future article. Just saying, it will be worth it.
Conclusion
As I look back on this year, I’m filled with gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead. The journey here on Substack has been nothing short of thrilling and fun.
Thank you for being part of this!

I share my stock investment story without sugarcoating – you get the good, the bad, and those tricky ego trips. I'm developing a service with a mix of smart code and proven investment strategies, making stock analysis a thing of the past if you wish. Because life offers so much more beyond the confines of stock analysis.
Nuggets I’ve enjoyed:
If you think somebody should read this, share it, and make them happy.
Disclaimer:
* 1) This is supposed to be fun. Yet, still. Legal recourse is excluded. The maximum amount for the gifted subscription is capped at 500USD because I don't want to go “bankrupt” :-). It is not possible to cash out money or to withdraw leftover money.
The information in this article is my personal opinion. I’m not a certified investment professional. It is not consulting, nor does it constitute investment recommendations.
I do my research carefully and follow my personal investment strategy.
The stock market is a complex building with its own rules. There are no rules set in stone, like the rules of physics.
Therefore, use the contents of this newsletter at your own risk and do your own research as well. Investing in the stock market can lead to a total loss of the capital invested.
Great article, it is the power of number!
Btw... During the great stock market crisis, a man goes to his broker and asks:
- Tell me honestly, aren't you worried about your clients' money?
- Just calm down! - reassures the broker. - Everything will be fine. I sleep like a baby.
- So calmly?
- Not quite. I sleep for a few hours, then wake up and cry until morning... 😅😁
Hey I just went through and I love the article! I would love to collaborate on an article if you’re up for it!
